A late 19th century, continental, patinated bronze figure of Lorenzo de Medici. Cast after the figure by Michelangelo from the tomb of Lorenzo di Piero, Duke of Urbino, in the Basilica of San Lorenzo, Florence, Italy. Dark brown patination. Original fleur de peche marble plinth.

Edwardian Antique Mahogany & Inlaid Cylinder Bureau

An Edwardian mahogany, boxwood line inlaid and chequer strung cylinder bureau. The rectangular top above three frieze drawers with a cylinder front rising to reveal a fitted interior of pigeon holes and small drawers with pull out leather lined writing slide. The kneehole base with single frieze drawer flanked by a pair of small drawers to each side and standing on square tapering legs ending in spade feet. Retaining the original brass and ivory pulls throughout.

A late 19th century, French, gilt bronze and porcelain mounted mantel clock. The figure of a seated winged putti on a stepped plinth with a circular jewelled porcelain panel dial painted with Roman numerals and floral swags, flanked by cornucopia overflowing with flowers, the sides with rectangular landscapes. The concave stepped base with three frieze panels. Fine original matt and burnished gilding. The eight day movement with Brocot suspension rack striking the hour & half hour on a bell. Case, porcelain, movement & pendulum stamped 7340, mounts stamps ‘LC’.

A late Victorian mahogany and marquetry inlaid bijouterie table by Edwards & Roberts. The rectangular bevelled glazed top with leafy inlaid border opening to the original velvet lined interior, above four panelled sides each inlaid with scrolling acanthus and wide rosewood cross banding. The four square tapering legs each headed by an inlaid urn with trailing garrya below and ending in brass caps and castors. Stamped to the interior ‘Edwards & Roberts’.

Jean Baptiste Delettrez Ormolu Mantel Clock with Pink Porcelain Panels

A late 19th century, Napoleon III, French gilt bronze and porcelain clock retailed by Lee & Son Belfast. The finely cast and chased clock case in the Louis XVI style surmounted by an urn, flanked by pinatum finials, with bowed panels to the sides painted with musical trophies and the central panel with cherubs. Original gilding to case retaining silver highlights. The eight day movement by J B Deletrez, rack striking the hour & half hour on a bell, with Brocot suspension. The case, pendulum and movement numbered 32471.

Charles Nosotti a Pair of Antique Victorian Giltwood Mirrors

An unusual pair of Victorian giltwood & gesso wall mirrors. The original mercury silvered rectangular plate inset a moulded frame with guilloche frieze below a floral swag pediment, the base with a narrow display shelf supported by a fan flanked by turned gilt finials. Both bearing stamped brass labels for ‘C. Nosotti, carver, gilder, upholsterer and cabinet maker 398,399 Oxford Street’.

An Italian patinated bronze figure of the ‘Uffizi’ dancing faun, from the 19th century. The figure standing on an oval base, holding cymbala in his hands, and wears a kroupezion attached to his right sandal. Original dark brown patination. The base inscribed ‘DUCHEMIN’.

An unusual pair of mid 19th century, Continental, patinated bronze figures after the antique. The male figure (Ganymede?) carrying a goat kid, she (Demeter) holding a wheatsheaf, both standing on naturalistic vine clad columns cast with an eagle, goat & sheep. The square bases cast as weathered marble. Dark brown patination.

The shaped front with swag inlaid frieze below a polished top, with a  single curved glazed door enclosing a relined interior with glass shelves, flanked by glazed side panels with a cupboard below, standing on five square tapering legs ending in spade feet.

Antique George IV Mahogany Canterbury

A George IV mahogany and parcel ebonised Canterbury of boat shape. The four divisions of splat form with turned corner finials and central carrying handle, above a single mahogany lined drawer retaining the original turned pulls, standing on turned legs with brass caps and castors. One castor roll replaced.

After Cortot Antique ‘The Soldier of Marathon’ Bronze

After Jean-Pierre Cortot (d. 1843) Cast by F Barbedienne

A late 19th century ‘The soldier of Marathon’ bronze cast by Barbedienne after Cortot. Depicted the moment when the weary soldier collapses onto the ground atop his shield and sword.  In a final burst of pride, he raises his chest and brandishes the palm of victory aloft. Dark green/brown patination. Signed to the base ‘Barbedienne’. The foundry produced this model in 4 editions, this being reduction number 4.

The sculpture of the Greek soldier Phidippides who ran the 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce the news of a great Greek battle victory.  This heroic event has since given birth to the famous marathon race, the length of which is equal to the distance from Marathon to Athens. Soldier of Marathon was first sculpted in marble by Cortot expressly for the palace of King Louis-Philippe.  The original is now one of the treasures of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
