Antique French Kingwood & Satiné Ormolu Mounted Open Bookcase

A late 19th/early 20th century, French, Kingwood & Satiné open bookcase embellished with fine ormolu mounts. The serpentine fronted marble top with gilt metal rim, above a shaped frieze with a pair of mahogany lined drawers. The open bookcase base with a pair of adjustable shelves and mahogany interior, standing on  short cabriole legs ending in sabots. The curved sides with satiné panels crossbanded in kingwood and framed in ormolu. Retaining the original gilding to the finely chased mounts.

Antique Regency Rosewood & Brass Inlaid Sofa Table Attributed to Gillows

Attributed to Gillows

A George III rosewood sofa table with brass line inlay, attributed to Gillows. The rectangular top with twin drop flaps and finely figured book veneers, above a pair of mahogany lined frieze drawers and dummy en verso, standing on block ends, united by a turned stretcher, with platform bases flanked by scroll carved spandrels and finely cast gilt bronze hairy paw feet concealing castors. The whole heightened with wide brass inlay throughout. Brass pulls replaced.

An almost identical rosewood sofa table is illustrated on page 375, ‘Gillows of Lancaster & London 1730-1840’ by Susan E Stuart.

A George IV rosewood chiffonier. The galleried shelf back with turned supports above a mercury silvered plate. The base with frieze drawer above a pair of silk pleated doors flanked by turned columns and a bead and reel plinth base standing on turned and reeded bun feet.

A mid 19th century, Victorian, figured walnut Secretaire Wellington chest. The rectangular stepped top above nine graduated drawers retaining the original turned pulls, standing on a plinth base and with side locking bar. The three centre drawers with fall front opening to reveal a fitted interior with leather lined fall.

Louis XVI style French Clock

A small late 19th century, French, gilt bronze and marble clock. The ormolu case surmounted by a seated cherub, above an enamel dial painted with floral swags and Arabic numerals, the sides with acanthus scrolls and standing on a rouge marble plinth with five toupie feet. The Vincenti et Cie eight day movement with Brocot suspension, striking the hour and half hour on a bell with outside count wheel. The case and movement numbered 780.

An early 19th century, George III, mahogany tea table. The ‘D’ shaped top with reeded edge opening to reveal a polished interior, supported by twin back legs, above a frieze with geometric cockbead mouldings standing on four turned legs ending in brass caps and castors.

Antique George III Fiddleback Maple Kingwood & Medallion Inlaid Tea Caddy

A George III fiddleback maple, kingwood cross banded tea caddy inlaid with fan medallions and finished with chequer stringing. Finely inlaid on all sides, including the interior which houses three lidded caddies. Now standing on brass ball feet, possibly replacements.

Antique French Louis XV Style Green Tortoisehell Boulle Clock by Delettrez & Klaftenberger.

A late 19th century green tortoiseshell and engraved brass inlaid clock in the Louis XV style. Of small waisted form, the case finely inlaid to all four sides and with original gilt bronze mounts. The eight day Delettrez movement rack striking the hour and half hour on a bell with Brocot suspension. The gilt dial with enamel cartouche roman numerals. Movement and case numbered 26533.

The initials JBD on the movement are a monogram of Jean Baptiste Delettrez who is recorded as living in Paris circa 1845 until circa 1885.

Charles Klaftenberger was trading from 1863 to 1881. Aubert & Klaftenberger traded in London from 1839 to 1857 and are recorded again in 1881. Alone or in partnership these two retailed some of the very finest French clocks.

The corners mounted with finely cast floral swags retaining the original gilding.

The circular white enamel dial with roman numerals, arabic 5 minute markers and pierced engraved hands inset a shaped gilt bronze case, surmounted by an urn, and hung with swags of garrya, the sides and front with blind fret panels. The eight day movement with Brocot suspension rack striking the hour & half hour on a bell.

Antique Pair of Louis XVI Style 19th Century French Candelabra

A pair of late 19th century, French, candelabra in the louis XVI style.The turned grey marble centre with tripod supports headed by bearded masks holding aloft scrolling branches with four rose flower cast sconces issuing from a central floral cast collar. The circular white marble base with leafy band and toupie feet. Re-gilt. Stamped to underside ‘OUD’ ‘A’.
